You’re receiving this inaugural issue because you expressed interest in being part of the Journalism 360 community — a global network of storytellers accelerating the use of immersive storytelling in news. This newsletter is a biweekly digest of curated resources, stories and updates from the immersive journalism space. You can unsubscribe anytime.

Register for the Journalism 360 Unconference

You’re invited to the first Journalism 360 Unconference! Meet us July 24-25 in New York City for a unique gathering of creators, producers, newsroom leaders and technologists working on immersive storytelling.

The event will showcase projects funded by last year’s Journalism 360 Challenge and encourage participants to exchange learnings and collaborate on new ideas. Join us on Tuesday, July 24 to see demos and meet immersive storytellers, and on Wednesday, July 25 for a full day of inspiring conversations on immersive storytelling and journalism. You will hear from 2017 Challenge winners — including the team behind the Pulitzer Prize winning feature “The Wall” — and industry thought leaders as we explore applications of 360 video, augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality in news.

More support for immersive journalism through Journalism 360

We’re pleased to announce renewed support for the Journalism 360 initiative, including the 2018 Journalism 360 Challenge. Thanks to the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Google News Initiative and Online News Association, Journalism 360 will continue to highlight innovative immersive projects, share best practices and connect storytellers.

In 2018, we will award 10 grants of $20,000 each to support ideas that advance immersive storytelling in news. Applications open later this spring — stay tuned for updates!

We’re excited to highlight different projects and updates from the Journalism 360 community in future issues of this newsletter. Want to share your favorite stories, lessons from your projects, interesting case studies or thoughts on an immersive journalism topic you care about? We’d love to hear from you! Send your links, tips and other inputs to newsletter@journalists.org.
