Submit nominations for the 2019 ONA Community Award

We are thrilled to open the call for nominations for the 2019 ONA Community Award!

We want to hear from you about the colleagues working behind the scenes who have made outsized contributions to online journalism, particularly by creating tools or work environments that enable digital journalists to do their best work. These achievements are sometimes overshadowed by recognition given to individual projects and stories. This award is an opportunity to lift up those behind-the-scenes colleagues who have had an extraordinary impact on our field and the public at large.

ONA members are invited to nominate individuals to the Community Award now through July 24, 2019, 11:59 p.m. PDT.

The selection committee will consider these characteristics in their evaluation:

• An under-the-radar person or small team that has created products or tools that help digital journalists showcase their best work
• A person or small team that has fostered a stronger sense of community among digital journalists, either by rallying the industry together for a cause, connecting news innovators on an influential and impactful project, or developing a community over time

The Online Journalism Awards is the only comprehensive set of prizes honoring excellence in digital journalism. Since 2000, we’ve recognized the achievements of more than 1,700 finalists. Join us in New Orleans for the 2019 Online Journalism Awards Ceremony to celebrate this year’s finalists and winners on Sept. 14, the last day of ONA19.
