The award looks beyond individual journalism projects and bylines to highlight the efforts that often happen behind the scenes and have a tremendous impact on the journalism community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The 2024 ONA Community Award is now <a href=\"https:\/\/ona.submittable.com\/submit\/1c0359f7-e281-4755-9eda-716d0990a770\/2024-ona-community-award\">open for nominations<\/a>. All nominations are due Wednesday, July 17, at 11:59 p.m. EDT (3:59 UTC).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s honoree(s) will join an inspiring group of community leaders that include <a href=\"https:\/\/journalists-org-develop.go-vip.co\/awards\/2023\/11\/01\/building-an-inclusive-community-and-hundreds-of-resources-for-science-journalists-qa-with-siri-carpenter\/\">Siri Carpenter<\/a>, honored for building an inclusive community and comprehensive resources for science journalists through The Open Notebook; <a href=\"https:\/\/journalists-org-develop.go-vip.co\/awards\/entries\/manori-wijesekera\/\">Manori Wijesekera<\/a>, for leading a robust, multi-language training platform for women journalists in some of the world\u2019s least covered countries; and the <a href=\"https:\/\/journalists-org-develop.go-vip.co\/awards\/entries\/journalists-of-color-slack-administrators\/\">administrators of the Journalists of Color Slack (JOC Slack)<\/a>, who created a highly engaged support network of peers.<\/p>\n<h4>How to nominate yourself or your peers<\/h4>\n<p>All active\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vip-local.vipdev.lndo.site\/membership\/\">ONA members<\/a>\u00a0can submit nominations for themselves or other individuals or small teams that embody the award. The nomination form has three sections:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nominee information:<\/strong>\u00a0Provide the name(s), professional title, organization and email address, plus indicate whether the nominee is aware of your recommendation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Accomplishments and impact:<\/strong>\u00a0Answer two questions about the nominee\u2019s story.\n<ul>\n<li>How has the nominee gone above and beyond to foster a strong sense of belonging and inclusion within the digital journalism community? Provide specific examples.<\/li>\n<li>Discuss the effect of the nominee and\/or their work within the community. Imagine you\u2019re introducing them for winning this award, what would you want to highlight about their impact?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Supporting materials:<\/strong>\u00a0Share at least one, and up to four, examples that highlight the nominee\u2019s impact.
