Executive Women Leaders Salon: Setting organizational culture intentionally from the top

  When

Tuesday, Apr. 25, 2023
3 pm-4 pm ET

A competitive hiring market, remote staff, uncertain economic outlooks, retention challenges, inequitable legacy structures: It’s no secret news organizations are navigating unprecedented change. Team culture can be a critical piece of untangling these intersecting issues — but in uncertain times, investments in culture can be one of the first areas where organizations lose focus as executive leaders make strategic shifts.

Join us for a participatory, off-the-record conversation salon for executive women leaders in journalism featuring ONA CEO and Executive Director LaSharah S. Bunting and Nabiha Syed, CEO of The Markup.

In a small group, we’ll discuss how executives can build strong workplace culture from the top — including managing high-level staff, inheriting a challenging culture, hiring strategies for a competitive job market, creating institutions of belonging, and maintaining culture while navigating major changes like hybrid teams, organizational growth and leadership departures.

This session is the first in ONA’s three-part Executive Women Leaders Salon, a series for women at the head of their organizational leadership structure. If you’re a woman in the top tier of your news organization’s leadership team, we’d love to have you join us. Learn more and apply — applications are open until the first session on April 25 or until the program is at capacity.
