These are stressful times for journalists and media professionals. Take a 30-minute break and find out how movement and mindfulness can help. Barre Instructor Dorey Scheimer will be our video host and will walk us through 10 minutes of movement exercises and another 10 minutes of mindfulness and breathwork. The remainder of the half-hour will be spent on discussing how to integrate these exercises into your every day working habits, helping you stay aware of career stress and recalibrating your mind and body to focus.
Instructor Dorey Scheimer is a media person just like you, so she understands the stresses many are under every day. She is an associate producer at On Point at WBUR and was formerly with Cox Media Group in Washington, D.C. When she’s not at WBUR, you will likely see her walking around Brookline with her golden retriever, Ray, or teaching barre classes.
Agenda for this FREE Zoom video event
– Introduction
– Movement: Participants should plan to be ready to move for about 10 minutes. Movement will include light exercises and stretching. Participants will not need any props. Dorey will provide music shared through her computer to the Zoom event.
– Mindfulness: Participants should plan to be in a quiet space where they feel comfortable being still during this time. Dorey will do a guide breathwork series focused on mindfulness, intention, and awareness.
– Integrating movement and mindfulness into your work-life: This will be a Q&A session where Dorey will talk about the ways the practice she teaches can be applied every day, even at work. I.e. being aware of the stress of the job or the story you’re covering and being able to take two minutes in a quiet space to reset your focus on your breath. That will allow you to settle the emotional response and recalibrate your mind and body to focus.
