The Online News Association’s local Rocky Mountain chapter and the Denver Press Club are hosting a series of panels this year on how to work and thrive as an editorial freelancer in Colorado. Join us Monday, Oct. 21 from 6-7:30 p.m. for our second panel discussion, where we will be speaking with editors on what they look for when hiring freelancers. Panelists include:
Pat Traylor the senior editor of photography and multimedia at The Denver Post.
Kailyn Lamb, editor of Life on Capitol Hill and the Washington Park Profile.
Dana Coffield, senior editor at The Colorado Sun.
Chris Harrop, senior editorial manager at the Medical Group Management Association and editor of MGMA Connection magazine.
We will explore how to catch an editor’s attention — and get paid — while working as a freelancer in the Colorado media community. Would editors rather be pitched or have a solid pool of freelancers to reach out to? What makes a good pitch? What do editors need to see before they hire someone? What are things that freelancers could do to get hired again?
