The problems facing journalism are well known: News organizations are struggling to secure sustainable revenue models; News audiences are turning away from traditional news media, and replacing them with partisan fare, personalized social media feeds, or no news at all; Journalists are finding their own jobs precarious as at the same time, political attacks on the news media have reached heights not seen in decades.
However, journalists are not sitting idly by in the face of these problems; many are engaged in rethinking their craft and exploring new ways of producing news and interacting with news audiences.
This panel brings together some of Seattle’s leading journalism innovators: individuals actively pursuing a new and different path for journalism. Join us for a conversation to learn more about these ventures and how they seek to chart a possible future for journalism in the city.
