The ONA South Florida chapter wants to bring some sunny SoFla vibes to your quarantine time. Join us at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6 as we host the first in a series of ONA Local virtual wellness meetups, thanks to the support of the Democracy Fund.
Gannett newsletter guru, Jacque Palmer, who’s based in Palm Beach County, will be taking us on a journey with sound. Known to her Instagram audience as Karma Hertz, Jacque’s virtual sound bath meditation is like nothing you’ve experienced before.
What happens in a sound bath?
Jacque explains: “I use a variety of sound instruments like bells, chimes, rain sticks and mainly Quartz Crystal bowls to induce a state of relaxation in the body.”

Sound healing is a perfect companion to meditation, yoga, mindfulness, massage and Reiki. Sound healing can help you relax and recharge in the way a 30-minute nap can because once your brain kicks into Delta (the state of deep sleep), your body starts to release Nitric Oxide, the molecule our body produces that has been found to improve memory, lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, fight off bacteria and improve sleep.
When music and sound enter the ear, it goes through the thalamus and into the auditory cortex. Sound therapy is rooted in Science and can truly help you release stress and find peace in the moment.
Join journalists across the ONA Local network for this aural experience by one of the industry’s brightest talents.
