In between the bowls of melting ice cream, Wi-Fi outages and an opening reception full of laughter, icy drinks and live music, thousands of attendees of the Online News Association Conference shuffled through the halls of the Marriott Hotel in Philadelphia on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023. Featured sessions included community solutions journalism, journalists’ safety training and the impact of Black, Indigenous, and people of color coverage in the newsroom.
