{"id":2244,"date":"2016-09-15T08:24:39","date_gmt":"2016-09-15T14:24:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journalists-org-develop.go-vip.co\/newsroom\/newsroom16\/?p=1"},"modified":"2021-06-22T18:36:07","modified_gmt":"2021-06-22T22:36:07","slug":"ona-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journalists-org-develop.go-vip.co\/newsroom\/2016\/09\/15\/ona-members\/","title":{"rendered":"ONA members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After eight years with the Online News Association, beloved executive director Jane McDonnell is stepping down effective <span>Dec. 31<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>With her departure, McDonnell is leaving some marks\u2014on the organization, and on the people she\u2019s met through it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is there not to like about Jane?\u201d Jill Blackman, from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, said. \u201cONA has been so lucky to have her, look what has happened to this organization.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Blackman, like McDonnell, was one of the founding members of ONA.<\/p>\n<p>Blackman said one of her fondest memories with McDonnell is going out to dinner with all of the founding members at the 10th\u00a0ONA conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe made me feel included and part of it,\u201d Blackman said. \u201cAnd I\u2019m just so appreciative of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Everyone who talked about McDonnell touched on how warm and thoughtful she\u2019s always been\u2014and how every memory of her is laced with that thoughtfulness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhenever you meet her, she just makes you feel like you\u2019re the most important person in the room,\u201d Fergus Bell, with Dig Deeper Media, said. \u201cShe always has time for you, she always has time to listen to your ideas.
