Sarah Bennett is an associate professor of communications and media studies at Santa Ana College, where she is department chair and adviser to the award-winning student media organization, el Don.
She brings to the classroom nearly two decades of experience in both print and digital publishing as a reporter, editor, designer, columnist, producer, consultant and community-centered journalism leader.
In addition to bylines on news, music, food, art and culture, Sarah was the longtime design director of L.A. Record, a founding editor of Beer Paper L.A., food editor at L.A. Weekly and managing editor of theLAnd Magazine. For two years, she hosted the weekly food podcast, Suppertime in the LBC, and has self-published dozens of zines under her own small press.
Sarah is on the board of Long Beach Public Media, home to low-power FM station KLBP, and is a volunteer organizer with the Long Beach and Los Angeles Zine Fests.
