Teresa Puente is an assistant professor of journalism at Cal State Long Beach. Her bilingual journalism students publish the Spanish-language magazine, Díg en Español. She is a 2022 CMA college media adviser award winner. She also is the opinion editor at CALÓ NEWS, a Latino/a/x news site with a California focus. Puente is the lead editor and author of the book "Reporting on Latino/a/x Communities: A Guide for Journalists." (Routledge, 2022) She previously was a reporter at the Chicago Tribune and also served on the Chicago Sun-Times editorial board. Her journalistic writing has been published in numerous media outlets including USA Today, Newsweek, Time, Vice, The Hill, Los Angeles Review of Books and more.
