Artificial intelligence – ChatGPT, the workflows it streamlines, the changes it brings to the workforce, the misinformation it can create and more – is the topic this year.
With that in mind, we’re thrilled to announce the featured session The Promise and Peril of Artificial Intelligence will open the 2023 Online News Association Conference. Join this conversation on Thursday, Aug. 24, at 9:30 a.m. in Philadelphia.
Paul Cheung, CEO, Center for Public Integrity, and digital media leader, will moderate a fireside chat reflecting on this pivotal global moment with voices from right in the middle of its evolution:
- Liz Danzico, Vice President Design, Engagement Experiences, at Microsoft: Liz has long been a revered expert at the intersection of digital innovation and design. Her current work includes design of Microsoft’s new Bing. She previously led NPR’s digital and design teams across products and platforms.
- Matt Masterson, Director of Information Integrity, Microsoft: Matt is a former non-resident policy fellow with the Stanford Internet Observatory where his work focused on election security and issues of information integrity. He also served as Senior Cybersecurity Advisor at the Department of Homeland Security, where he focused on election security issues.
- Dalia Hashim, Program and Research Lead for AI and Media Integrity, Partnership on AI: Dalia works across tech, media, research and nonprofit industries to understand how AI policies and regulation can minimize its harms. She was a founding member of the AI policy team in the Ontario government, where she crafted and implemented a set of principles on the ethical use of AI.
