Jean Friedman-Rudovsky is a Philadelphia native and believes strongly in journalism’s vital role in creating an equitable and just society. In 2018, she and Cassie Haynes co-founded Resolve Philly, a nonprofit organization that develops and advances journalism built on equity, collaboration, and the elevation of community voices and solutions. Jean is an internationally recognized expert on collaborative journalism and a force for solutions journalism in Philadelphia and around the country. Under their stewardship, Resolve has become one of the most highly regarded young news organizations in the nation, and has made its mark for its workplace culture that allows staff to show up as their whole selves. Resolve was named a Best Workplace in 2023 by Philadelphia Business Journal and together with Cassie, Jean received the Al Dia 2022 Women of Merit for Non-Profit Leadership Award. Prior to Resolve, Jean spent over a decade as an award-winning longform journalist reporting from dozens of countries and multiple continents. She has been published in The New York Times, Time Magazine, Cosmopolitan, and Bloomberg Businessweek, among others.
