Aldana Vales is an Argentinian reporter passionate about human-centered journalism. She is an R&D fellow at The Wall Street Journal, where she explores emerging technologies for the newsroom. She also works for The Membership Puzzle Project, interested in discovering best practices in community engagement routines around the world. Focused on expanding diverse voices in media organizations, she recently helped develop Documented NY’s WhatsApp newsletter, a weekly roundup of news in Spanish for the Latinx communities. Before she came to the United States, Aldana covered tech and innovation for the Argentinian newspaper El Cronista and worked as a multimedia reporter at the Spanish newswire service EFE. Her articles have also been published in many relevant Spanish-language newspapers, like Argentina’s La Nacion and Spain’s El Pais. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires and is now a graduate student at NYU Journalism. She collects pencils, plays the flute and loves drinking mate.
