Alison Schary is an attorney in the Washington, DC office of Davis Wright Tremaine LLP and serves as outside general counsel for ONA. Alison represents and counsels clients on a wide range of issues in media and intellectual property law, including defamation, privacy, copyright, newsgathering, and First Amendment matters. Alison also advises clients on pre-publication and pre-broadcast legal issues and regularly represents coalitions of media amici in cases affecting First Amendment matters in the federal appellate courts and the U.S. Supreme Court. Alison’s client base includes traditional and digital media organizations, technology companies, filmmakers, reporters, nonprofits, and advocacy organizations.
