Ben Kreimer is an independent journalism technologist telling stories with drones, 360° video, photogrammetry, spatial audio, and 3D virtual reality. He helps storytellers, journalists, researchers, and mission-driven organizations leverage emerging technologies to tell stories
and amplify their work.

In 2015 Ben became the Beta Fellow (first fellow) at BuzzFeed’s Open Lab for Journalism, Technology, and the Arts in San Francisco. He designed and 3D printed 360 camera kits for reporters and co-produced many of BuzzFeed’s early 360° videos, including their first, which has received over six million views, and was shot with his custom open source 360 video drone rig.

Ben has shared his immersive storytelling work and tools at conference presentations, university lectures, and workshops in India, the UK, Timor Leste, and nine other countries on six continents. This includes NYU, Yale, Stanford, Harvard, UC Berkeley, Media Party Africa, and NBOstorylab in Kenya.

Ben takes an interdisciplinary approach to his global work with academic institutions and organizations such as Columbia’s Tow Center for Digital Journalism, the Times of India, Drone Journalism Lab, 360 Afrika, USC Annenberg’s JOVRNALISM class (for their award winning 360 video project “Turning Tides: The Story of the Salton Sea”), The Desert Sun newspaper, CCTV Africa, Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade innovationXchange, SecondMuse, the African Wildlife Foundation, and the Antiochia ad Cragum Archaeological Research Project in Turkey.
