Christen McCurdy is a freelance reporter and editor in Portland, Ore. For four years she was the news editor for The Skanner News, a weekly newspaper covering African American communities in Portland and Seattle. Prior to that she was a staff writer for The Lund Report, a watchdog website for the healthcare sector in the Northwest, and has previously worked at the Argus Observer and the Grants Pass Daily Courier. Her work has also appeared in Pacific Standard, Street Roots, The Oregonian, the Portland Mercury, Bitch and Narratively.
Christen lives in Portland with her partner and a charmingly needy rescue tabby. She enjoys hiking, biking, making things and wine.
