Dixon Ampumuza is an award-winning media in education expert in Africa and social entrepreneur. He possesses strong analytical skills and 10 years’ experience working with a leading multimedia-multinational companies in East Africa before he co-founded theugandan.com and Africa Media Education Literacy Limited, both organizations that focus on how to use media to advance society through innovation. Dixon has worked with Vision Group as Advocacy Manager Media in Education and Coordinator for Young Readers in Monitor Publications Limited, a Nation Media Group Company, where he innovated over 30 projects for advancing society including water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), child rights, promoting reading culture, sustainable environment, agriculture, digital media-based projects like climate change, media-based financial literacy and smart education. His innovations have won grants from multinational and international organizations like USAID, UNICEF, Save the Children, Global Green Grant Fund, SNV, Airtel, Citi Bank Foundation, NRC and World Vision. Currently he is running an innovative financial literacy project in secondary schools to start early, succeed young and build community resilience. He was voted treasurer for the newly formed Online Media Publishers Association, mandated to promote new media. Dixon was a finalist among top six young social entrepreneurs in Uganda for the Young Achievers Award 2017. In 2013 at an event held in Poland, his Media in Education project was voted the best in Africa by France-based World Association of Newspapers.
