A Southeast Texas native, Julie Garcia has worked in newsrooms across the Lone Star State since 2010 covering breaking news, high school sports, city government and health care. In 2019, she joined the Houston Chronicle as a features health reporter for Renew Houston, a new wellness vertical. After two years of COVID reporting, she decided to join a Houston-based medical school to edit newsletters and write stories for an internal audience. Using her journalism experience, she collaborates with her team to better handle media requests and expectations.
