Megha’s journalism career started with a green worm, a sunless confocal microscope room, and the realization after countless hours of searching for The Perfect Mutant that telling the stories behind the science was equally as awesome as making the discoveries. After getting a Ph.D. in molecular biology from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, she trained as a science writer at UC Santa Cruz, and worked at several newspapers and an online news startup before landing at C&EN. She’s covered everything from suburban crime to public health to science and technology, knows a bit about audience engagement and multimedia reporting and is happy to have landed back in Texas, where sentences start, end, and contain in all grammatical spaces the word y’all, and it works. Really.
