Sandeep is the Director of the Interactive Journalism at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. Most recently he co-spearheaded the Knight Foundation and Online Journalism Association-funded Stop the Mold project which documents the scourge of mold in NYC's public housing. Sandeep began his career by helping build the earliest digital editions of The New York Times on America Online and then as breaking news editor, writer and Web producer when the paper went live on the Internet as www.nytimes.com. He's the recipient of numerous journalism awards, including a 2002 Online Journalism Award for his investigative series on hackers' frequent intrusions into banking systems. He was also awarded a J-Lab New Voices grant for 2008-2010 to expand his Family Life behind Bars project, which examined the impact on family relations and dynamics when one or more member of a family is incarcerated.
