Violet Wang is a recent grad from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She studied Journalism and Communication Arts, with a focus in media production and strategic communication. In July, she will move to NYC and start working for the Atlantic as a video fellow.
In school, she was the Video Director of the Badger Herald, the student newspaper. With the collaboration of other videographers, she produced videos on subjects such as Black History Month, international student experience, multicultural Greek communities, and renowned cartoonist Lynda Barry.
Her documentaries “Infurmary” and “Brown Girl” are official selections of 2016, and 2017’s Wisconsin Film Festival. “Brown Girl”, a profile on Filipino spoken word artist Gretchen Carvajal, was awarded the Steep and Brew Audience Choice award and selected to screen in high schools across Wisconsin.
Grew up in China, studied abroad in Italy, Violet hopes to work on topics that related to diverse cultural and social experiences.
