The AP-Google Journalism and Technology Scholarship Program, which ended with our last class in 2014, fostered new journalism skills in undergraduate and graduate students developing projects at the intersection of journalism and technology. The program was targeted at individual students creating innovative projects that further the ideals of digital journalism, with the key goal of promoting geographic, gender and ethnic diversity, with an emphasis on rural and urban areas.
Our two-year partnership with the Associated Press and Google is at an end, but we were fortunate to have excess funds to support two more winners for the 2014-15 academic year. We’re thankful to both AP and Google for supporting our inaugural program.
Our 2014 AP Google scholars received scholarship awards of $7,500 and a one-year ONA membership, as well as recognition at ONA’s annual conference.
