We propose enabling our field production journalists to produce basic elements for use in our AR and VR projects using photogrammetry. Through training and using simple, inexpensive equipment, cameras and drones, we can give these journalists the ability to bring back useful 3D data on artifacts and locations they shoot in the field. We can use these artifacts in on-air 2D graphics, in social media platforms that support 3D and AR, and in virtual reality applications. With all of our field crews trained, we would greatly increase our production of these types of elements and be able to include them in our reporting more frequently.
