Small Changes That Made a Big Difference in Local Newsrooms
September 18, 2017
Writing, editing, photography, videography, website and social media management, newspaper delivery . . . How much can one person do? When you’re running a small operation day to day, newsroom transformation can feel impossible at a team or individual level.
Two presenters with a mix of experiences — one who has traveled to local newsrooms across the country to better understand their processes, and one who edits a 3,000-circulation twice-weekly newspaper in rural Iowa — will demonstrate some specific steps that newsrooms have taken to make a big difference in getting great content to the community. And we’ll bet these examples from small newsrooms can teach larger outlets how to create a more efficient, cohesive newsroom.
